birthday treasures.

Birthdays. I guess they're truly a reminder of sweet and lasting friendships and just renewing bonds by meeting up and hanging out with them. A handful of special people in my life made my birthday such a special one this year, and I do realise how they have come to be my pillar of support and why life is so wonderful.

It started out on Monday with an outing with April, Ling and Sarah. We arranged to meet at the Esplanade to celebrate mine and April's birthday's, which falls about five days apart. Headed into the Garlic Restaurant (terrible name, but the food's pretty good!) for dinner, and Ling was more than an hour late! And so April and I had basically given up all hope and thought that she wasn't coming, when she suddenly burst in with a million shopping bags and told us that work ended late. Okay, well fine, that's typical Ling. Workaholic. So we had a nice chat over dinner, and when we were about to leave, the waitress brought out this beautiful lighted ice-cream cake, and it turned out that Rah and Ling intended to surprise us all along! We were so touched, and I really was delighted. And then came the sinful part, we had to finish one-quarter of the cookies and cream ice cream cake each cos we couldn't take it home or it'd melt! Lol, and so we did! April must have gotten diarrhoea after that, cos she's lactose-intolerant. Strolled down the banks of the river after that, or the boardwalk, whatever it's called, and we found a nice corner to exchange presents - the hard way. Made April wear shin-guards and walk around with an embarrassed look in front of everyone, and also hold in mega Pooh bear after she opened the gifts! Lol, I got this pretty La Senza nightie from the three of them, and it's so beautiful. All soft, and silky and nice-smelling with delicate straps. :)

On Wednesday, my birthday itself, Godma took me out to lunch at Raffles Hotel, and oh my gosh, I stuffed myself crazy with baby back ribs, calamari, tuna melt and a hugggeeee banana split! It was such fun eating though, and Godma and I had a nice long conversation, we seriously hadn't gone out for lunch like that in years! Later in the evening, met up with Cheryl and Allison, and had dinner at Coffee Club, except that I couldn't eat any more cos I was stuffed from lunch. Had great fun talking and laughing, and as usual, just being silly.

Last night, Mae, Shuhui and I went outttt!!! Oh gosh, it was absolute fun and indulgent pleasure!! It's been so long since the Powerpuff sisters met up, and I'm so thankful for them cos the chemistry in our friendship hasn't fizzled all these years, and we're still able to talk and laugh at the silliest things, and it's just that we know each other so well it makes the friendship perfect. We lived the life of high society the whole of last night! Lol, and it was so fun! Went into DKNY at Palais Renaissance cos they were having a sale, then after dinner (where Shuhui screwed up cos her elbows slid off the table, and Mae and I couldn't stop laughing at her, and Mae even did an imitating scene on a video), headed to Stuart Weitzman and On Pedder to gush over the Jimmy Choos and Manolos and Marc Jacobs shoes, and also to Ferragamo and Christian Dior, and Kate Spade, where I saw the most gorgeous bag that I so want. It's called Lipari, white leather with lovely blue straps. It's also $730! *faints* Mae has her eye on this golden strapped shoe from Pedder Red, and we're gonna get it for her birthday, so we can borrow it too! Haha. Later, we just sat down at the square and talked for about an hour or so, just reminiscing the past and spilling secrets and laughing, and it was my favourite part of the evening, how we can talk like there's no tomorrow. And lastly, we went into the Ladies to take stupid shots of ourselves, cos the toilets were deserted cos it was pretty late by then! Hahahaa. We did gorilla shots and mad laughing shots!

Gosh, I love all my friends. And also to all my other friends for their well-wishes and birthday love, I love all of you. April, Ling, Rah, Cheryl, Bev Zhu, Al, Mae, Shuhui, Sammie, Ying, Sharon, Matt, Charlotte, Xiaohui - you guys are my gems. :)
