Golf buggy dream

I remember telling Jan and Luqs a few days ago how cool it'd be if NTU implemented a golf buggy system where you can rent a golf buggy to get around the humongous school. Especially since the shuttle buses are highly irregular (urgh my luck with them is another story altogether) and once it hits 9pm, you basically have to walk everywhere. Well, I have to say, my wonderful idea got stuck deep in the recesses of my brain so much so that I had this weird dream about it.

I dreamt that golf buggies became a norm in school, where you could rent it from this spot near Coffee Club Express, for $40/hour. Okay, I know that's a tad ridiculous and no one will ever rent it for that much but it's my dream and I don't know how that number came about! And that day somehow Fel and I were running super alot of errands because we had to make it to the airport (which was in Canteen A) by a certain time. So we were running around school like in Amazing Race, and the golf buggies were all rented out! Sarah was happily in her golf buggy and racing around like nobody's business because she was also in the 'race' and she was kinda gloating that she had the golf buggy and Fel and I didn't. (HAHA, sorry my dear, I know you're not selfish in reality... ooh but I was so jealous of you in my dream!) Fel and I trudged around the huge school sulkily watching all these people with golf buggies who were just zipping by. And plus, we had obstacles along the way too... For some weird reason, when we were crossing the road from the International Students Cafe near the Student Affairs Office to the place where the fountain is, Jings suddenly jumped out of nowhere and boo-ed us and we were just about ready to kill him. Hahaaaa.

Stupid dream I had, but it seemed so real!

Went over to Cheryl's on Saturday night to sing. With her private room with the Plasma TV and her ten thousand karaoke cds, it's almost as good as going to KTV itself. I had a great time - really miss hanging at your house during JC days singing and singing with Bo - and after Cheryl mentioned it after watching him, I really really really think now that Jacky Cheung looks like Popeye. Seriously, I can just imagine him eating tons of spinach and beefing up?

So it's the term break, and here's what I have lined up:

1) Sex and the City sleepover with Mae and Shuhui (Also my chance to try Jalan Kayu prata)
2) Finish watching Healing Hands 3
3) SLEEP
4) Shop. Even though I 'promised' my dad I wouldn't buy anything for the rest of the year after that spree at Espirit. (What do you know... it rhymes.)
5) Learn to play mahjong (?!). For Cheryl's sake...and for the sake of becoming a true-blue taitai
6) Get down to interviewing the professor and doing the second draft for the Nanyang Chron article
7) Study for the 103 test...Hopefully.
8) Get a major tan. Somebody actually said I was FAIR the other day. Argh.
9) Nick's Pimp and Hoe Party... Anyone interested by the way? 24th February! According to him, the coolest party of the year yet.
10) Try not to step anywhere near the Boon Lay caves. But might be impossible if I have to back to interview the prof. :(

Valentine's Day

I stupidly came back to hall tonight when no one's here. Suddenly, I feel really alone. I suppose yes, I'm a very people-person and more often than not, I like being in the company of others. Although, like every other person, I do enjoy being alone at times and finally obtaining some peace and quiet away from the giggles of my girlfriends. But tonight I don't know why I'm not particularly happy about being alone. I think it's because I could have gone home after the facial and be in my warm, cosy home eating dinner with my family and watching TV as and when I please.

But this is good too, I guess. (I am valiantly trying to comfort myself.) With only me to myself, I should probably get started on the tedious marketing project - which may I remind everyone, I just found out it is supposed to be TWENTY pages long - and I don't know how I'm ever going to be done with it. And with the state of mind I'm in right now, it's an opportune time to return to God and to reflect on Him once again.

Valentine's Day yesterday was spent handing in three projects. Haha, but of course I still had my three other darling girls to have lunch with at Pizza Hut. Jan, Fel , Mel and I whacked the four bowls of soups, a pitcher of Pepsi, one regular pan pizza, one triple-layer-lava-cheese pizza thing, four sweet and spicy drumlets, one roll of garlic bread and about half of another regular pan pizza like nobody's business. Jan and I looked like these starving beggars who haven't eaten for a week cos we rushed off to the soup counter, before realising that we hadn't even gotten our bowls! And the waitress was secretly smiling to herself. SUPER embarrrassing.

At night had dinner with Nick and Shuhui before Shu and I went back to my place for a VCD marathon with Bosco and Myolie. It was really fun though, just us and nonsensical hilarious humour on the television. Extremely effective de-stressing especially after the last few days. I swear, I can watch War-of-in-laws ten times and still not be sick of it. :) I really want to get a job at the TVB rental shop at Serene Centre for the holidays - I'll get to watch all the serials for FREE!

Reminiscing is good. I'm actually smiling now. Haha, but now back to marketing.
MARKETING.
TWENTY PAGES AND NON-ASSSESSED?!
I really have a good mind not to do it at all.

The CS dictionary

Some Valentine's Day this is turning out to be.

My week of crazy deadlines next week promises to be one full of splitting headaches:

Mon, 13th Feb: CS104 essay
Tues, 14th Feb: CS 107 report, CS 105 project one final report, CS 105 project two revised plan
Fri, 17th Feb: MB103 non-assessed case analysis which I still know nothing about

The teachers do not have a heart, honestly. But, we still managed to find time for this -

White Specs Day!

Who looks the best in Jing's white specs? Feel free to post your comments and thoughts on it in the comment page.
Contestant number 1: Mel
Contestant number 2: Jan
Contestant number 3: Billy
Contestant number 4: Me
Contestant number 5: Fel
Contestant number 6: Jings
Contestant number 7: Luqs

Just realised today how we have come up with our own lingo and stuff when we taught Billy our Hong Kong exchange student friend some new phrases to his ears.

Happening
Definition: Cool
Eg: Going clubbing at MOS is how happening can.

Whatever-la
Definition: To be used when there is nothing else to say, or you have no idea how to put words to your exasperation
Eg: No examples needed. You can use whatever-la anytime you like.

What-ever (In a sarcastic tone)
Definition: To express annoyance
Eg.: It is a more severe expression of "whatever-la". To be used when the person has really annoyed you and is, or is going to cross the line.

Talk cock
Definition: Spout nonsense
Eg.: After someone says something nonsensical, it is then wise to say, "Stop talking cock la."

Random
Definition: The mostly widely-used word in CS these days. It is used referring to just about anything.
Eg.: "Who is this random person? I've never seen him before", "That is how random la", "Suddenly, this random jumping frog popped out of nowhere!"

Add some happenings, whatever-las, what-evers, talk cocks and randoms to spice up your life today. :)

Chinese New Year

The three people who made my Chinese New Year this year one of the most memorable ones ever and who have made me realise how much I do love my family - even though most of the time I seem to be loving my friends much more. My cousins, Allison and Mark, and my maternal grandma.

I look forward to Chinese New Year each year not so much because of the money (haha although that has a small part to play) but because the food that comes with each reunion dinner is absolutely heavenly and for days after that we will all eat yummy food cos my grandma will cook for days beforehand. Haha. And of course, visiting the various houses and seeing my relatives again.

We visit the columbarium every year during Chinese New Year as well; it's always the first stop on the list. And my cousin Mark and I made this sardonic observation this year. When we were younger, it used to be that we only go visit two or three people (?!) in the columbarium but now, it's like there are seven to eight people to visit and my aunt even has this typed out list of their locations. So we were saying, in about thirty years time or so, there would be no more houses to visit during Chinese New Year and the only place that we'll go is the columbarium.

Allison's my favourite cousin but the thing is I don't see her all that often because her family has been living in Hong Kong for the last five years. This CNY is special because they are finally back for good and this eloquent darling is enrolled in CHIJ Primary. She's barely eleven but she speaks so well, and I'm positive it has to do with her not spending the last five years in Singapore. In Hong Kong, she and her brother Alex studied in an international school and so I just love the way she speaks. There's no accent or anything, but no Singlish either. Or, not yet. I keep telling her not to start speaking like those random ah-lians in her school, if there are any. Haha. I also think she will grow up to be a supermodel one day with her mixed looks even though she isn't. Allie's mom, Allie and I can sit and talk about me being the flower girl for Allie's parents' wedding for hours. Sometimes, I wish I had a little sister just like her. She's seriously the sweetest kid in the world. :)

Mark's probably the cousin I spend most of my time with and I suppose he's my closest cousin. We grew up together and we have spent every single CNY together for the last twenty years. And every single year, we will reminisce and talk about the past years and how in our childhood, CNY used to be such a huge event and how we used to have so much fun on those old-school swings in people's gardens and how now everyone has moved to condos or apartments and those old houses don't really exist anymore. I remember how we used to visit this particular relative's house on CNY, the house was carpeted and to me and Mark, at age seven and ten respectively, that was heaven. We threw pillows around, rolled around the floor, and we even stole these coloured pebbles. Of course, they never found out although their coloured pebble collection would diminish every year. One year, on the last day of CNY, we threw the remaining Mandarin oranges into the air at a relative's carpark and watched it smash on the ground with a satisfying splat. And we laughed and laughed and laughed after that, and undoubtedly, we also got scolded together. Our criminal record goes on - we've destroyed umbrellas together on CNY and been accused of not greeting relatives but instead heading straight for the TV room. Chinese New Year would really not be the same without him.

My maternal grandmother has been suffering from mild depression (I think) since my grandfather passed away slightly more than three years back. This CNY when I visited her, I had a long conversation with her with my lousy Mandarin and she told me stuff and how she felt about certain things in our family that I've never heard before. And she teared while talking to me, and I almost teared too. I guess I won't elaborate much on it, but I love her and I wish I had the ability to spend more time with her.

This Chinese New Year made me really reflect on my family and I'm truly thankful for them. I was sooo reluctant to return to the craphole caves of Boon Lay after those few days of bliss. I don't understand why we can't have the two weeks of CNY holiday that some countries do. Someone should suggest it to the government as part of the family bonding scheme or something.

Three days is not enough.
