Overrated blogger
I do not read Xiaxue for a reason.
So when the roomie is lying on her bed with sleepy-lidded eyes and looking at me half-asleep, and her parting words are, "Go and read Xiaxue's latest post", while I sit at my desk preparing to start another avalanche of work, I look at her incredulously.
Then she dozes off to sleep.
So I enter the site that so many people talk about, and the first words that catch my eye at the top leaves me scrunching up my face in disgust and bursting out, "EVERYONE'S READING IT?! Can she GET any more egoistic?"
The roomie wakes up from my outburst and mumbles, "You really hate her huh..."
I leave her to her Manolo Blahnik pillowcase and carry on reading, a nagging annoyance growing inside me as I take in her less than perfect English and what seems more like a photo-blog displaying mostly shots of her face rather than her intellect. So her latest post speaks of her experience at the Yangtze cinema and men wanking there - thank you, very informative - it just seems to be an excuse for her to act like she's really liberal and use expletives. Plus, the deluge of photos? Hello, it's a blog, not Flickr.
And as I read on, I'm all ready to slap her by the time I come to this:
Digressing, HAVE YOU SEEN THE STANDARDS OF MAKE UP IN SINGAPORE? God, it is SO bad.I mean, most girls just put a bit of pressed powder, slap on an excuse of a light eyeshadow, apply transparent lip gloss, and call it a day, exhausted. The whole POINT of make up is to make you look prettier, not to bloody add colour to your face. Well ok, that's considered make up too...... for a clown. Unless you are already VERY pretty, there is no point in putting such "light" make up.
Well, I'm sorry I don't put on heavy makeup. But all I have to say is this, people who actually need tons of makeup are probably insecure about the way they look. To me, makeup should be subtle to enhance your features, and not look like the obvious icing on a cake. And it does not take an idiot to come to the conclusion that she thinks she's some makeup expert and the rest of the world is beneath her.
I know I'm never reading her blog again. I don't know why people do and I don't understand the hype behind it - it's really rather senseless.
While reading "Fashion Merchandising" for my 105 project, I found out the correct way to pronounce an important word that many people mispronounce. So here's a useful piece of information: Haute Couture - "Oat-koo-tur".
