Those are our aliases, our nicknames, our Ben & Jerry flavours, our road names and our screwed-up personalities. Now that we're all familiar with the stars of this entry, here's a short re-cap of the trip.
Coffee Bean: Where we slept for the first few hours of the trip cos we arrived at a ghastly 4am in the morning in Genting and we couldn't check in as the rooms weren't ready. We attempted some breakfast and light-hearted morning chatter but it soon succumbed to sleep on those plush couches. If it were Singapore, we would be chased out in an instant with brooms.
Genting Theme Park: The theme park that encouraged intimate bonds between the six of us, and where deepest darkest secrets were accidentally, or not so accidentally revealed. The terrifying Space Shot, which is some ten-storey free fall, which everyone but me went on. I'm such a wuss, I admit, but it was funny seeing everyone let out mind-blowing screams when they dropped, with legs flailing wildly. The roomie flume ride also racked up some jitters in certain people, but the Rolling Thunder Mine Train had to be my favourite ride of the day, and we went on it twice! I think we went on almost all the rides- and at the end of the day, we went up the Ferris Wheel and simply took in the breathtaking night scene. It was the perfect end to the day at the theme park.
Starbucks: Our unofficial favourite coffee hangout. Somehow we found comfort in the familiarity of that green logo. Talk about the W-curve theory setting in, and our last night in Genting was spent at Starbucks, with that lovely cold weather and us in our under-used jackets and sweaters and scarves, pretending we were in the United States during winter.
Boulevard Hotel/ Mid Valley Megamall: Our KL hotel and the shopping centre right next to it. Nothing beats staying right next to one of the biggest shopping centres in Malaysia, the only minus point that it wasn't in KL Central so we had to rely on cabs to get down to the main city centre. But we love Mid Valley and F.O.S. - I'm pretty sure we bought half F.O.S. down. The hotel was a total pampering outlet - we went swimming, the boys went to the gym, we took long soothing bubble baths and snuggled at night into that huge king-sized bed.
Roomies: I should probably talk a little about the sleeping arrangements in both KL and Genting - Me, Jings and Jan in one room, and Mel, Fel and Luqs in the other. That worked out perfectly and I love my roomies to bits because they understand that it is only human to live in a messy hotel room; they understand the need for a cold bed at night thus resulting in us sitting on the floor for a whole half an hour so that the bed can 'cool'. The three aliens in the other room even made their bed in the morning! Seriously, what are the chambermaids for?! Haha. So I truly loved the pigsty we lived in, I enjoyed fighting for Jan's blanket rights at night until the 2cm theory was implemented, it cracks me up thinking about Jings and Jan cuddling up to me at night when the other two ends of the bed were left empty (the selfish people probably wanted to cool it first), how Jan and I took bubble baths when Jings went swimming and yet I was the unfortunate one who had to step out in a towel when Jings came back demanding the use of the toilet. I love our theories and I love the self-disclosure every single night before we go to sleep.
Malay: Lif Bomba, Zon Tunda, Telekomunikasi and Aksesori are my favourite words EVER.
KL Zouk: Clubbing in KL was funnnnnnnnnn! I guess it was because it was in a foreign country and I truly let my hair down that night. Loved dancing to familiar tunes like Summer of '69, Hollaback Girl and Can't Take My Eyes Off You. That was probably the most fun clubbing experience ever, even though the music was weird at times. And of course half the fun was in dressing up with my three beauties - Mel, Jan and Fel - and taking Paparazzi-ish pictures with the boys afterward.
Suria KLCC: This was where we made up for the years of A & W deprivation - curly fries, root bear floats and coney dogs! Took marvellous shots in front of the majestic building as well, and that night we also walked round and round and round KL aimlessly, just talking and enjoying each other's company.
Card games: Bridge, Uno, Dai Di, Bluff (which I suck at and stupidly embarrassed myself at) and this new game which Jings taught us - Plump. We played cards till the wee hours of the morning during our last night in KL, accompanied by Cottage Fries, Tim Tams and Milo. Old-fashioned fun, and loads of laughs. That night we also posed with our new kinky hair bands, which the guys appropriated for themselves at some point in time when we were watching soccer. I got the Princess one, Fel the Empress Dowager, Mel the Playboy Bunny and Jan some raunchy cat thing.
Bukit Bintang: Our last day was spent here shopping! The Levi's (Jan, Jings and I in white) and the Benetton's (Luqs, Mel and Fel in colours) headed for some delicious BBQ-roasted chicken rice and then we just walked and walked and walked around Sungei Wang and Lot Ten (We got these receipts after we paid to enter the toilets in Lot Ten, and it said 'Lot Ten' on it, and Jan thought we got ASSIGNED toilets hahaha) and bought tons of DVDs.
Bus Ride Home: As mentioned before, the six of us squeezed into four seats on the ride home, which was super funny because we could have seriously saved money had we known we enjoyed the close proximity. And the most hilarious part was after the Yong Peng rest stop, some sleeping gas engulfed us and ALL of us sank into this deep sleep, and we did not even wake up when we arrived at the Malaysian Immigration. We were the last ones off the bus, in an absolute frenzy. Luqs only had time to think of his Ramly burger when he awoke first at the immigration checkpoint.
Picture-taking: The photo whores took 300 pictures in the 4-5 day trip. Couldn't upload all of them on Flickr, but I did upload 77, which was a tough task from 300. But the essence of it is mostly captured at
http://www.flickr.com/photos/glamqueen/. If you want to see the rest, and share our whorish joy, let me know. :) I do professional slideshows.
As of now, we're all back home, still meeting up ever so often and not looking forward to school starting again. I really thank God for friends like you guys. Love you all.
